Griffin Spencer was named the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Information and Game Day Operations in August of 2012. Within the Wells College Department of Athletics, Spencer is responsible for the public relations duties for all 16 NCAA Division III varsity sports. In addition, Spencer also manages and coordinates all game day operations for home athletic contests while managing both interns and student work study employees.

Since joining the Express, Wells College Athletics has launched a newly-designed website (http://www.Wells-Express.com) alongside the first-ever high definition webcasts of select sports in August 2014. Spencer has also planned and implemented new strategies for the Department's social media channels (Facebook, YouTube and Instagram), resulting in the 11th-highest Social Media Index among the nation's NCAA Division III colleges and universities, according to D3SocialMedia.com (10/07/14).

During Spencer's tenure, record books for 16 of Wells' varsity sports dating back to 1976 were created from scratch and the Department's archival materials were sorted and digitized. Spencer has also worked closely with other offices on the Wells campus, aiding Admissions, Advancement and Communications with the creation and design of various Athletics-minded publications. Within Athletics, Spencer has assisted with NCAA compliance, facility maintenance and recruiting and retention strategies.

Prior to joining the Express, Spencer served as the Athletic Communications Assistant at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. While at Saint Anselm, Spencer was the primary sports information contact for 10 of the Hawks' 20 NCAA Division II varsity sports. Spencer publicized game stories and press releases, maintained the department's statistical records and managed the department's social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter.

For the Hawks, Spencer also directed and supervised all in-game operations, including audio/visual components, public address announcing and statistical data. He also scheduled and coordinated the efforts for student work study employees for home athletic contests. Additionally, Spencer implemented full 1080p high definition highlight videos on the department's YouTube channel.

Spencer served as the primary sports information contact for several ice hockey tournaments and championship games, including the 2012 Saint Anselm College Invitational, the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Ice Hockey Championship Game, and the 2012 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Open. He also assisted with the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Championship Weekend, hosted by Saint Anselm at Sullivan Park.

Before joining Saint Anselm, Spencer served as the Public Relations and Community Relations Coordinator for the Manchester Monarchs, the American Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings. As the youngest full-time employee in franchise history at the time of his hiring, Spencer assisted and implemented the team's public and community relations strategies while also coordinating charitable activities through the Monarchs Care Foundation.

Additionally, Spencer drafted the franchise's press releases, game recaps and website content while serving as a point person in the press box and locker rooms for pre-and-post game media interviews. Within the community, Spencer facilitated and honored donation requests through the Monarchs Care Foundation. Spencer also assisted the team's annual At Your Service dinner and Ace Bailey Golf Tournament, raising money for local charities.

Prior to beginning his tenure at the Monarchs as an intern in 2009, Spencer volunteered with the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball at their Spring Training facilities in Lakeland, Fla. as an undergraduate. More recently, Spencer assisted with media relations efforts at the 2012 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships at Gillette Stadium, the 2013 Ivy League Men's Lacrosse Championships at Cornell University and the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball New York Regional in Auburn, N.Y.

A graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management, Spencer worked in the athletic communications office at his alma mater, assisting the Director of Athletic Communications with all 16 of the Penmen's NCAA Division II varsity programs.

Spencer is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and co-presented a table topic on social media at the Eastern College Athletic Conference - Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA) annual workshop in June of 2013.
