Softball & Men's Volleyball: "On This Day" 5-3-19

"On This Day" is a Wells College Athletics feature designed to look back over the past three seasons when most of our 2020 seniors began play for the Express and what highlights happened to Wells' spring teams on this day on May 3

Softball: May 3, 2019

Wells College softball sophomore Jenna Devora was honored by the North Eastern Athletic Conference as she was voted to the 2019 NEAC Second Team.

Devora is from San Antonio, Texas, and played primarily at first and third base during the 2019 season. She is an inclusive childhood education major with a minor in psychology. It is the first all-conference honor of her career.

Devora's impact was mainly at the plate where she led Wells with a .415 batting average and ranked second on the team with a .569 slugging percentage. Both of those marks ranked in the top-10 in the conference among all players. Devora led Wells with 27 hits, seven doubles and 19 runs batted-in over 24 games played.

It is the third year in a row that Wells has had at least one player earn all-conference honors since the varsity softball program was reinstated for the 2017 season.

Men's Volleyball: May 3, 2019

The Wells College men's volleyball team is ranked 11th in the nation as the American Volleyball Coaches Association released its final Division III Coaches Poll for the 2019 season. It is the first national ranking in the eight-year program history of Wells College men's volleyball.

In the 2019 season, Wells College set program records for total wins (28) and winning percentage (.757) and won the North Eastern Athletic Conference championship. Wells played 10 of its 37 matches this season against teams that finished the season in the national rankings or were ranked in the national poll at the time of the match. The Express earned wins over Southern Virginia, Rivier, and Elms, along with Lancaster Bible College.
