'On This Day' Strong Second Half by Field Hockey Team Decides Morrisville Contest

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Sept. 24, four years ago in 2016.

The Wells College field hockey team earned a 1-0 victory at Morrisville State College on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016.

Kelly Mason scored the game-winning goal with 13:36 remaining in the second half when she tipped in a pass from Ivy Cromp.

In a scoreless first half, Morrisville outshot Wells by a 10-5 margin and Wells goalkeeper Kelsey Kokosa made five first-half saves.

In the second half, Wells limited Morrisville to just one shot, and had five shots including the game-winning goal from Mason. It was the fourth goal of the season for Mason.
