Baseball Pitcher Zach Kemp Takes NEAC Award

Wells College baseball pitcher Zach Kemp was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 2, 2017. Kemp turned in his best pitching performance of the year and pitched the Express to a win over Utica College in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday.

Kemp pitched six strong innings and allowed just two runs on two hits. He had seven strikeouts and walked four. It was his first collegiate victory, and it helped Wells to its fourth win of the year in the program's inaugural season.

It is the second week in a row that Wells baseball players earned conference honors. Brandon Shirley (Player of the Week) and Jared Strait (Pitcher of the Week) were honored for the week ending March 26.

Wells completed an 11-game homestand with a 4-7 record in those games. The Express is 4-11 overall on the year, and plays a game Wednesday at Elmira College, before returning to conference play with weekend doubleheaders at home against SUNY Polytechnic Institute and on the road against Cazenovia College.
