Kemp Named NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Wells College baseball pitcher Zach Kemp earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week recognition for the week ending March 11.

Kemp entered the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday, March 11 and worked four effective innings to earn the victory. After giving up two runs as part of a four-run Cabrini rally in the sixth inning, Kemp retired the Cavaliers in order in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings. The final two innings helped Wells preserve a one-run lead as the Express claimed a 5-4 win. Kemp is 1-0 on the season. He had three strikeouts with one walk over four innings.

Kemp was a second-team all-conference selection as a freshman in 2017. This is his second career NEAC weekly award. He was Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 3, 2017.

Kemp is a sophomore business major from Ithaca, N.Y.

The Express stands at 3-1 on the year and plays five games in a row this week at Myrtle Beach, S.C. beginning with Tuesday and Wednesday games against Clarks Summit.
