Baseball Keeps Swinging; Scores 16 In Another Win

The Wells College baseball team continued its strong start to the season with a 16-9 win over Pine Manor on Thursday, March 15 at Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Six Wells players had multi-hit games, with those six batters racking up 15 of the team's 17 hits in the game. All nine players in the Wells starting lineup scored at least one run.

The Express scored five runs in the second to take a 7-5 lead and added three more runs in the bottom of the third.

In the second-inning rally, Anthony Aumick delivered a three-run double. Three runs scored in the third when Tanner Dunkel tripled to bring in Justin Forster and Tyler Young, then Dunkel scored on the same play on a throwing error.

Tyler Young singled in a pair of runs in the sixth.

Dunkel was 3-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored. Aumick and Young each went 3-for-5 at the plate. Aumick had two doubles and four RBIs. Young drove in two and scored twice.

A.J. Nesci, Dylan Nolan and Brandon Shirley had two hits each.

Wells starting pitcher Matt Morgan worked five innings and earned the win. He allowed five runs, two earned, on eight hits.

The Express is 6-1 on the year. Wells plays Friday at 10 a.m. against MacMurray College.
