Penn State Berks Takes Pair From Wells Baseball

The Wells College baseball team dropped both games in a doubleheader against Penn State Berks on Saturday, April 14. Berks took the opening game 20-1 and won the second game 11-4.

Wells is 10-11 on the season and 0-6 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Penn State Berks improved to 13-7 overall and 8-0 in the NEAC. These games conclude a six-game road trip for the Express. Wells is back home Wednesday, April 18 for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. against SUNY Poly.

Penn State Berks 20, Wells 1

The Lions scored six runs in the bottom of the second and led the rest of the way. Tanner Dunkel had two hits for Wells. The Express scored in the top of the seventh. Keandre Sadler had a double and Kevin Spaeth followed with an RBI triple.

Penn State Berks 11, Wells 4

Berks built an 8-0 lead over the first five innings. Wells scored twice in the seventh and twice in the eighth.

In the seventh inning, Anthony Aumick and Brandon Shirley delivered RBI singles. Dylan Nolan had an RBI double in the eighth and Aumick had another run-scoring single.

Aumick, Nolan, and Kevin Spaeth had two hits each. Nolan scored twice and Aumick drove in two runs.

Derek Shea started and worked five innings. He had five strikeouts with one walk.
