Wells Baseball Wins Over Clarks Summit

The Wells College baseball team picked up a win over Clarks Summit in a neutral site game at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Thursday, March 14. Wells took control with four runs in the second and two more in the third to take a 6-1 lead en route to the victory. Wells is 2-5 on the season and Clarks Summit is 0-6.

The big four-run second inning started with RBI singles from Ian Crawford and A.J. Nesci. Derek Shea and Anthony Aumick followed with RBI hits. In the third inning, Chris Forney hit a two-run double to bring in Tanner Dunkel and Tyler Young.

Tyler Young, Jordan VanHerpe, and Tanner Dunkel had multi-hit games for the Express. Young was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI, and run scored. VanHerpe had a pair of singles and two runs scored. Dunkel had two hits including a double, an RBI, and a run scored.

Johnny Hall was the starting pitcher and picked up the victory over seven innings of work. He had six strikeouts was three walks and three earned runs allowed on five hits. Jack Field pitched the final two innings in relief.

Wells wraps up its Myrtle Beach week with a Friday doubleheader against Centenary beginning at noon.
