STRONG SECOND HALF FROM MUSTANGS SINKS EXPRESS

(Aurora, N.Y.)─   The Wells College field hockey team dropped their fourth straight game to open the season, losing to the Morrisville State Mustangs 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville, N.Y. Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix) paced the Express on defense finishing with 11 saves in goal. Rebecca Quackenbush and Lauren Bordonaro led the Mustangs with one goal each. The loss drops the Express to 0-4, while the Mustangs improve to 2-2 on the season.

The game remained scoreless into the second half due in part to the stellar play of Bass, who recorded seven saves in the first half. It wasn't until 51:46 that the Mustangs found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. While the Wells defense was able to keep the Mustangs at bay, the offense had a difficult time solving the defense of Morrisville as they would manage just one shot on goal the entire game. The Mustangs would end any Express idea of tying the game, scoring with less than two minutes to play as they went on to the 2-0 victory.

For the game, the Mustangs held the advantage in shots (21-1) and penalty corners (7-2).

The Express will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Cedar Crest College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Allentown, before heading to Rosemont College to take on the Ravens Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Rosemont.
