GOLDEN EAGLES SHUTOUT EXPRESS

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The visiting SUNY Brockport field hockey team shutout the Wells Express 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Aurora. Jackie Massoni (Bayshore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and Katie Kaminski (Eden, N.Y./Eden) each scored in the first half to lead the Golden Eagles of Brockport. The loss drops Wells to 3-11 on the year, while the Golden Eagles improve to 7-9 on the year.
 
Massoni got things rolling for the Golden Eagles, blasting a loose ball by Bass for an early 1-0 lead just 4:40 into the game. Kaminski later gave the Golden Eagles a two goal advantage, scoring off of a penalty corner from Emily Corpin (Peterboro, N.Y./Morrisville-Eaton) with less than two minutes remaining in the first half. Bass kept the game close throughout the half, making six saves on 12 shots.
 
The Express defense picked things up in the second half, holding Brockport scoreless on six shots, while Bass continued to play stellar in net, making four saves. Despite the solid defensive effort from Wells, the offense was unable to convert on any scoring chances as Brockport held on for the 2-0 victory.
 
Kristina Owens (Kerhonkson, N.Y./Roundout Valley) led the Express with three shots, including one on goal. Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix) finished with ten saves on 12 shots on goal to pace the defense. For the game, Brockport held the advantages in shots 18-3 and penalty corners 10-1.
 
Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and Nicole Sarratori (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) each combined for the one save shutout for the Golden Eagles.
 
The Express return to action next in their final home game of the year against Baypath College on Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m. in Aurora.
