FIELD HOCKEY ROLLS OVER COLLEGE OF NOTRE DAME

(Baltimore, Md.)─ The Wells College field hockey team won their second game in as many days dispelling the College of Notre Dame 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in Baltimore, Md. With the victory the Express improve to 3-8 on the year, while the College of Notre Dame remains winless at 0-9.
 
Valencia Chavez (Lakeside, Calif./El Capitan), Kristina Owens (Kerhonkson, N.Y./Roundout Valley), and Yurani Farfan (Princeton Junction, N.J./W. Windsor) all scored to lead the offensive attack for the Express. For the game, the Express held the advantage in shots 23-2 and penalty corners 9-2.
 
The Express came out aggressive in the first half outshooting the Gators 16-2. Chavez got things rolling for the Express scoring on a scrum in front of the net to give the Express a 1-0 lead at 22:46. Owen extended the Express lead before the close of the first half, scoring on a shot just inside the far post on a pass from Stefanie Miller  (Barton, N.Y./Tioga) for a 2-0 lead.
 
Wells continued to stay aggressive in the second half, while their defense remained suffocating, holding the Gators without a shot the entire half. Farfan scored the third and final goal seven minutes into the second half as the Express cruised to the 3-0 victory.
 
The Express will look to stick to their winning ways on Tuesday when they invite Elmira College to Aurora for a 4:00 p.m. tilt.
