(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Houghton College Highlanders scored early and often en route to a 7-0 victory over the Wells College field hockey team on Wednesday afternoon in Aurora. Rachel Stefanski (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall) scored four goals, while Jennifer Huyett (Stevens, Pa./Garden Spot) finished with one goal and two assists to lead the Highlanders. Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix) finished with seven saves in goal for the Express. The loss drops Wells to 1-6 on the year, while the Highlanders improve to 4-5.
Houghton, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) scholarship school, showed their might on Wednesday, outshooting the Express 29-1 and holding the advantage in penalty corners 11-0.
The Express will look to bounce back next against St. Vincent College on Sunday, October 3 at 12:00 p.m. in Aurora.
