ROLLO AND OWENS SCORE IN 2-1 VICTORY OVER HOOD

(Frederick, Md.)─ Elisabeth Rollo (Geneva, N.Y./Southern Cayuga) and Kristina Owens (Kerhonkson, N.Y./Roundout Valley) each scored and Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix) finished with seven saves as the Wells College field hockey held on to defeat Hood College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Frederick, Md. With the victory Wells improves to 2-8 on the year, while the loss drops Hood to 2-10.
 
Rollo put the Express ahead in the 21st minute, scoring the only goal of the half for each team on a rebound to give Wells the 1-0 lead.
 
The Express took a two goal lead early in the second half as Owens took a cross from Adrienne Tomao and beat the keeper to the left side for 2-0 advantage. Miriah Stone pulled Hood to within one goal, scoring in a scramble in front of the net at 58:59.
 
The Wells defense took over from there holding Hood scoreless the remainder of the game en route to the 2-1 victory.
 
Wells returns to action tomorrow as they take on The College of Notre Dame at 1:00 p.m. in Baltimore, Md.
