EXPRESS GROUND FALCONS IN FINAL HOME GAME

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College field hockey team scored four second half goals within a span of seven minutes in route to a five nothing shutout victory against the Cedar Crest College Falcons on Sunday afternoon in Aurora. Shelby Moszkowicz (Rochester, N.Y.) finished with two goals and one assist, while Courtney Grosser (Penfield, N.Y.) finished with two goals to pace the Express. Falcon's goalie Lindsey Harrison (Hanover, P.A.) finished with 16 saves in the lost. With the victory, the Express improves to 5-9, while Cedar Crest falls to 1-15.

Both teams were even on the defensive end for the first period, however, the Express controlled majority of the game and would find the back of the net with less than five minutes to go. Elizabeth Rollo (Geneva, N.Y.) sent a shot in from the right side that Grosser tipped past Harrison for a 1-0 lead.

The Express commanded the entire second period, outshooting the Falcons 22-0. Despite the offensive surge, the Express did not find the back of the cage until the 58th minute of play. A loose ball off a penalty corner came out to Moszkowicz whose first shot would be blocked but, her second attempt would find the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. Two minutes later, Moszkowicz hammered home her second goal, giving Wells a commanding 3-0 lead. Wells would not let up, drawing a penalty stroke a moment later. Brittany Stanton (Deposit, N.Y.) went one-on-one with the goalie and lofted a shot over the right hand shoulder of Harrison for a 4-0 lead.  The Express finished off an impressive day with yet again another goal by Grosser off a pass from Moszkowicz for the game's final score of 5-0.

The Express held the advantage in both shots (31-1) and penalty corners (13-7). The Express will finish up their season Oct. 27th on the road at Elmira College at 4pm, while the Falcons will also finish up their season on the 27th against Bryn Mawr College at 3:30 pm.
