Express Silenced By AMCATS, 2-0

AURORA, N.Y. – Despite two shots on goal by captain Shelby Moszkowicz (Rochester, N.Y.), the Wells College field hockey squad was shutout by the AMCATS of Anna Maria College in their 2012 home opener Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Express have lost three straight games and fall to 1-4 overall on the season. The AMCATS improve to 4-3 overall on the year.

With just under 20 minutes expired in regulation, Kylie Dalbec scored the first of two goals on the afternoon for the AMCATS. Dalbec sent home a feed from Nichole Lowe for the game's first strike, what would eventually prove to be the game-winning goal. Dalbec's second strike on the day, in the 52nd minute, was sent home off of a Nicole Byrne feed.

Express netminder Cassi Greene (Martville, N.Y.) drew her fourth loss of the season, allowing two goals on two shots on net. AMCATS goaltender Mary Kate Breen posted a five-save shutout to capture the victory. Defenseman Shelby Bourn (Sidney, N.Y.) recorded a defensive save in the losing effort. Amanda Hebert posted a defensive save for Anna Maria.
