Royals Race Past Express, 6-0

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Wells College field hockey team posted a 6-0 loss to the Royals of the University of Scranton Saturday afternoon. With the defeat, the Express fall to 2-6 overall on the season. The Royals improve to 5-3 overall on the year.

Five different players recorded goals for the Royals, as Alyssa Fania scored both her first and second goals of the season to lead the team. Alyssa Whitman, Meghan Kearney, Caitlin Liberatore and Gretchen Kempf each recorded individual strikes to secure the shutout victory.

For the Express, Avary McKinney (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded the team's lone shot on offense.

Both Maria Begliomini and Krista Mundy split time in goal for the Royals, combining for the shutout without making a save. Kylie Nishioka (Encinitas, Calif.) drew the loss, despite making 16 saves on 22 shots on net.

Wells College returns to action Monday, Oct. 1 as they host Elmira College in a 4:00 p.m. tilt.
