Field Hockey Blasted By Bombers, 8-0

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Wells College field hockey team dropped their season-opening contest by an 8-0 margin to the Bombers of Ithaca College Friday evening. Following the loss, the Express fall to 0-1 while the Bombers improve to 1-0 on the young season.

Ithaca jumped out to a 1-0 lead only 35 seconds into the contest as Katie Kennedy tipped home a Lindsay Flanagan blast. Kennedy went on to score once more in the contest while Flanagan added two goals of her own. Lauren Delia recorded the final two goals on the afternoon for Ithaca off the bench.

Wells mustered only one shot on goal as sophomore Cat Taylor (Jackson, N.J.) placed a shot on net that was turned aside by Blaire Janney, who relieved starting keeper Katie Lass in the second half.

Express goalkeeper Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.), in her first collegiate game, turned aside 13 shots on net for Wells while allowing eight goals.

The Express return to action Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. as they host the Mustangs of Morrisville State College on the Athletic Association Field.
