Four Unanswered Goals Lead Quakers Past Field Hockey, 5-1

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Junior Marina Fargnoli (Apalachin, N.Y.) recorded the lone Express goal as the Wells College field hockey team recorded a 5-1 loss to the Quakers of Earlham College in a neutral site contest held on the campus of Wilson College Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Express fall to 1-4 overall while the Quakers (1-0) collect their season's first win.

With time expired in the first half, Wells was granted a penalty corner to extend the frame. Off of an assist from sophomore Cat Taylor (Jackson, N.J.), Fargnoli converted the game-tying goal heading into the half. Exiting halftime tied at one apiece, Earlham utilized four unanswered goals in the second half to stifle a possible comeback for the Express.

Cumulatively, Natasha Jacobs struck for two goals while Katilyn Brunner, Bailey Heinzen and Megan Hut each added a goal. Hut, Neo Khalema and Helena Flores added assists for the Quakers.

Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) drew the loss in goal for the Express, turning aside four of nine shots on net that she faced. Helen Titcomb earns her first victory of the year, allowing one goal on six Wells shots.

The Express return to action Thursday, Sept. 12 as they host the Lakers of Oswego State College at 4:00 p.m. in a home game at Athletic Association Field.
