Field Hockey Battles In 2-0 Loss To St. John Fisher

AURORA, N.Y. – Despite a season-high 12 shots, the Wells College field hockey team recorded a 2-0 loss to the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College Wednesday afternoon at the Athletic Association Field. With the loss, the Express fall to 2-7 overall on the year while the Cardinals even their record at 4-4.

Stacie Skidmore scored both Fisher goals, scoring at 4:48 and 51:40, to account for the game's offense. Cumulatively, the Cardinals outshot the Express by a 14-to-12 margin but Wells held a 12-to-7 edge in penalty corners.

Junior Marina Fargnoli (Apalachin, N.Y.) tallied a career-high six shots for Wells while freshman Shianne Stokes (Mays Landing, Md.) accounted for three of her team's 12 shots. Sophomore Cat Taylor (Jackson, N.J.) had two shots while senior Avary McKinney (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded the final shot for Wells.

Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) halted four shots on goal in the loss. Her counterpart, Danielle Famolaro, also turned aside four shots on net for the victory.

Wells returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 28 as they host Bay Path College in a 4:00 p.m. contest. McKinney, the team's lone senior, will be honored in a pre-game ceremony on Senior Day.
