Field Hockey Silenced By Nazareth, 5-0

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College field hockey team recorded a 5-0 shutout loss at the hands of Nazareth College Sunday afternoon at the Athletic Association Field. With the loss, the Express fall to 3-9 overall on the season while the Golden Flyers improve to 4-6 on the year.

Sibongile Chisi posted two goals in the winning effort, including the game-winning goal for Nazareth at 6:39 of the first half. Kristina Back also potted two for the visitors while Haley Potter recorded her first goal of the season for the Golden Flyers in the second half. Nazareth outshot the Express by a 28-to-3 margin on the afternoon and had the decisive 9-to-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Wells was led by sophomore Courtney Bastian (West Winfield, N.Y.) as she fired a team-leading two shots for the Express. Sophomore Cat Taylor (Jackson, N.J.) recorded the lone shot on goal for Wells in the first half. Senior Avary McKinney (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Shelby Bourn (Sidney, N.Y.) picked up defensive saves for Wells in the defeat.

Goalkeeper Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) allowed five goals in 16 total shots that she faced and was saddled with her ninth loss of the season. Mary Greco and Lauren Devine split time in goal for Nazareth while Greco picked up the victory alongside her team's lone save.

The Express return to action Wednesday, Oct. 9 as they face-off against Elmira College in a 4:00 p.m. road contest.
