Field Hockey Suffers 6-0 Setback At Elmira

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – The Wells College field hockey team posted a 6-0 loss to the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Express fall to 3-10 overall on the year while Elmira improves to 2-7.

Ashley Palmer led off the scoring for Elmira, tallying a goal off of an Alli Gilbert feed at 15:39 of the first half. Gilbert recorded the next two goals in the final five minutes of the first stanza, elevating the hosts to a 3-0 lead. McKenna Light, Sarah Watts and Emma Miklinski each scored second half goals to add insurance for the home team.

For Wells, goalkeeper Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) allowed six goals on 17 shots on net. Elmira split time between Lauren Thomas and Mikayla Rebusmen with the latter halting the lone Wells shot on goal.

The Express return home for the final two games of their season, hosting Scranton on Sunday, Oct. 13 in a 1:00 p.m. contest at the Athletic Association Field.
