Field Hockey Concludes Season With 7-0 Loss To Oswego St.

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College field hockey team dropped a 7-0 contest to the Lakers of Oswego State College Thursday afternoon at the Athletic Association Field. With the loss, the Express conclude the 38th season in program history with a 3-12 overall record. The victory boosts the Lakers to 4-6 overall following the non-conference contest.

Lisa O'Callaghan and Rachel Johnston each scored for Oswego State, boosting the visitors to a 2-0 lead all before the tilt's 24th minute. The next three Lakers goals were scored by Ashley Fiorille, who entered today's game with only one goal on the season. Cassie Langone and Julia Calandra each tallied a goal while assisting the other's strike to round out the day's scoring.

Freshman Courtney Bastian (West Winfield, N.Y.) recorded both shots on goal for Wells. The Lakers held the decisive advantages in shots (19-to-2) and penalty corners (10-to-0).

Wells goalkeeper Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) made three saves in the losing effort, allowing seven goals to Oswego State. The Lakers starting keeper, Priscilla Paulose, did not face a shot on goal while her relief, Grace Lombardi, turned aside both shots by Bastian in the second half.

Today's game marked the final collegiate contest for the team's lone senior, Avary McKinney (Rochester, N.Y.). She concludes her Wells career having appeared in 50 games for the Express, scoring five goals and adding five assists for 15 points (4-5=15).
