Field Hockey Silenced By Wilson, 4-0

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College field hockey program was handed a 4-0 loss by Wilson College on Sunday at the Athletic Association Field. With the loss, Wells dips to 0-10 overall on the year while Wilson evens their overall record at 5-5.

Miranda Long and Hillary Swartz traded goals the entire contest as Long's fourth goal of the season at 17:26 opened the scoring. Swartz countered in the 31st minute off a feed from Long and then returned the favor on Long's second tally of the game with only 41 seconds left in the first half. Swartz fired a long-range shot that snuck in at 43:01 to conclude the scoring on the day.

Wells backstop Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) allowed three goals on four shots faced before yielding to junior Kendrick Wilson (Collins, N.Y.) in the second half. Making her collegiate debut, Wilson turned aside two-of-three shots faced.

The goaltending tandem of Kayla Butts and Emily Sullivan did not allow a goal on six shots on net for Wilson, each racking up three saves apiece.

The Express return to action Sunday, Oct. 12 as they travel to Nashua, N.H. for a 1 p.m. contest on the campus of Rivier University.
