Field Hockey Defeated by Marywood 3-1

SCRANTON, P.A. – A late stroke scored by senior Cat Taylor (Mays Landing, N.J.) put the Express on the board but it wasn't enough as they fell short 3-1 against Marywood on the road. Wells falls to 2-3 with the loss.

Taylor's goal came on a penalty shot in the 59th minute as the Express were down 3-0. Wells goalkeeper Sydney Line recorded 10 saves out of 13 total shots faced in the loss. Collectively, Marywood outshot the Express by a 22-to-4 margin and held the advantage in penalty corners, 8-to-2. Nicole Merrill earned the win, saving 1 of 2 shots on goal.

Three different Marywood players scored in the game. Amelia Waibel scored the first goal, her first of the season, assisted by Michaela Schmidt early in the game, at 5:48. Gabbie Bower scored an unassisted goal at 19:53 and Leanne McManus added to the lead at 23:57 to conclude their scoring for the game.

The Express return to action Wednesday September 23rd, hosting Keystone College at home at 4:00 pm.
