Line Draws NEAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Junior Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) of the Wells College field hockey team has been selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Line and the Express posted a 3-1 loss at Marywood last Saturday.

Versus the Pacers, Line kept the Express in the game as her team was outshot by a 22-to-4 margin. Despite drawing the loss, Line turned aside 10-of-13 shots on the evening and made five of her 10 saves in the scoreless second half of play alone. She has now recorded double-digit save totals in her last two games played.

In 32 career games in goal for the Express, Line has posted a 3.65 goals-against average and has made 232 saves across 2,147 minutes played. She ranks eighth all-time in career saves since 1985 and has posted two shutouts in her career.

Wells returns to action this Wednesday, Sept. 23 as they face-off against the Giants of Keystone College at 4 p.m. on the Athletic Association Field.
