Marywood outpaces Wells field hockey

The Wells College field hockey team dropped a 3-0 match in non-league action Sunday, Sept. 18 at home against Marywood University. The visiting Pacers scored twice in the first half and added a goal in the second half to account for the final margin. Wells is now 2-6 on the season and Marywood improved to 4-2.

It was just the second time in eight games this season that Wells failed to score at least one goal.

The defensive effort for the Express was led by goalkeeper Kelsey Kokosa, who made eight saves. Senior defender Lexi Cohen had two defensive saves for Wells, and she leads the team in that category with three defensive saves on the year.

Sunday's game was the 10th all-time meeting between the two programs, and Marywood has won nine of the games in the series.

The Express is back in action Tuesday at home against Elmira College, for a 5:45 p.m. start.
