The Wells College field hockey team earned its way back into the win column with a 1-0 victory at Morrisville State College on Saturday, Sept. 24. Kelly Mason scored the game-winning goal with 13:36 remaining in the second half when she tipped in a pass from Ivy Cromp.
Wells improved to 3-7 overall and is 1-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Morrisville is 1-7 overall and 0-1 in the NEAC.
In a scoreless first half, Morrisville outshot Wells by a 10-5 margin and Wells goalkeeper Kelsey Kokosa made five first-half saves.
In the second half, Wells limited Morrisville to just one shot, and had five shots including the game-winning goal from Mason. It was the fourth goal of the season for Mason.
Wells returns to action Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m. home game against Ithaca College at the Wells Turf Field.
