Brockport Knocks Off Wells Field Hockey

The Wells College field hockey team returned to action Wednesday, Oct. 5 and fell by a 4-0 score at The College at Brockport. Wells is 4-9 on the season and Brockport is 2-9.

Brockport scored twice in the first half and held a 2-0 lead at halftime. The host Golden Eagles opened the scoring just one minute, 39 seconds into the game and added another goal in the 18th minute.

Wells scored in the early part of the second half, as Kelly Mason scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season in 39th minute. The goal was unassisted and made the score 2-1.

Brockport added to its lead with two more second-half goals to make the final score 4-1.

Wells had eight shots in the game, led by three from Mason. Express goalkeeper Kelsey Kokosa had eight saves. Shianne Stokes made a defensive save. Brockport had 14 penalty corners in the match.

These teams will meet again next week, when Brockport comes to the Wells Turf Field for a 5:45 p.m. game on Friday, Oct. 14. Prior to that, Wells will play road games Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11 at New England College and at Castleton State. Both of those games begin at 4 p.m.
