Wells Field Hockey Honors Seniors; Falls To Brockport

The Wells College field hockey team honored its three-player senior class prior to a Sunday, Oct. 22 home game against The College at Brockport. The visiting Golden Eagles came away with a 4-2 victory over Wells at the Wells Turf Field.

The Wells seniors – Nicole Sales, Kaitlyn Schwend, and Kate Wells – were all four-year team members for the Express and helped contribute to two North Eastern Athletic Conference titles.

Wells built a 1-0 lead in the first half with an attack on cage, and Mollie Walts passed across from right to left in front of goal, where Chloe Marcus scored from close range. Brockport scored two goals in the late stages of the first half and led 2-1 at halftime.

Brockport added two more goals in the second half, but Walts scored for the Express with five seconds left in the game to account for the final score. It was the fifth goal of the year for Walts, tied for the team lead in goals with Kelly Mason.

Goalkeeper Allison Solomon had eight saves and Ivy Cromp had one defensive save.

Wells plays again at home Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. versus Hartwick College.
