Solomon Makes 29 Saves As Field Hockey Falls At Oswego

The Wells College field hockey team opened its 2018 season with a 6-1 loss at Oswego State on Friday, August 31, 2018. The host Lakers scored three times in each half.

Wells scored its goal in the second half, an unassisted goal by Mollie Walts on a rebound. Ivy Cromp had the initial shot, which was saved by the Oswego goalkeeper, then Walts scored on the rebound. Walts tied for the team lead in goals in 2017 with five goals.

Wells goalkeeper Allison Solomon made a career-high 29 saves. The Lakers totaled 47 shots and 36 were on cage.

Abby Gilson had a defensive save for the Express.

It was the first game of the season for both teams. Wells is 0-1 and Oswego is 1-0. The Express plays again Saturday, Sept. 1 at home against Wooster at 1 p.m. on the Wells Turf Field.
