Coleman Scores In Field Hockey Loss At Houghton

The Wells College field hockey team lost 8-1 in non-conference play at Houghton College on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Whitney Coleman scored for the Express on an assist from Mollie Walts, and goalkeeper Allison Solomon made 11 saves.

The Express held the opposition to 28 shot attempts and 20 shots on goal, which were season-low totals by any Wells opponent this year through three matches. Houghton scored six times in the first half and twice in the second half.

Katherine Pryor had a defensive save for Wells.

The goal by Whitney Coleman came with 1:10 remaining in the second half. It was the first goal of the year and third of her career.

Wells returns to competition Wednesday, Sept. 12 for a 5 p.m. home game against Oneonta.
