Hartwick Scores Win Over Wells Field Hockey

The Wells College field hockey team played its final non-conference game of the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 17 and lost by a 10-1 score. The Express scored a first-half goal and held Hartwick to four second-half goals in the game.

Hartwick took a 6-0 lead in the opening 19 minutes of the match. Wells answered with a  flurry in the 24th minute that included three shots and two penalty corners. On the second corner, Whitney Coleman inserted and Wells kept control. Mollie Walts passed to Chloe Marcus for the Express goal. It was the second goal of the season for Marcus and the second assist of the season for Walts.

Wells goalkeeper Allison Solomon made 27 saves, her third-highest total this season.

The Express totaled eight shots including six on goal. Walts led Wells with four shots in addition to her assist.

Wells will wrap up regular-season action with a North Eastern Athletic Conference match at Morrisville State College on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. The Express will play in the NEAC championship game at Keuka College on either Oct. 27 or 28 at a time to be determined.
