Burns Earns Final Regular Season NEAC Defensive Field Hockey Player of the Week Honors

Wells College goalkeeper Sabrina Burns was announced as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for her 12-save performance last week against Nazareth College from the Empire 8 Conference.

The freshman goalkeeper's statistics really climbed during the month of October. Burns has garnered 153 saves overall on the season with 70 percent of those saves coming this month.

Burns' initial month of play in September resulted in a 49.5 percent save percentage, but those numbers increased substantially during the month of October to a 63 percent save percentage after making more than 100 stops this month.

In addition, the freshman has recorded double-digit save performances in five straight games and nine times overall this season.

Burns will lead Wells defensively into the NEAC Field Hockey Championship this Saturday, Nov. 2 at Keuka College beginning at 1 p.m.
