EXPRESS FALL TO SUNY IT, 91-83

Utica, N.Y.–  Diloo Brown fell one rebound shy of a triple-double (21,11,9) and reigning NEAC Player of the Year David Golembiowski tallied a game high 34 points as the SUNY IT Wildcats (15-4) upended the Express (13-6) 91-83 on Saturday afternoon in Utica, N.Y. Darrell Bullock finished with 21 points, six assists, and six rebounds, while Juan Paulino added 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Express who lost for just the second time in their last 11 games.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early 10-2 lead on 3-pointers from Golembiowski and Kevin Cappiello, but the Express would climb back to tie the game at 13 on a 3-pointer by Rionn Pradia, sparking a 14-5 run and a nine point lead for the Express.

The Wildcats would answer with a 14-5 run of their own to tie the game at 35-35 with 3:30 remaining. Both team would exchange shots over the final minutes before Brown hit two-free throws with four seconds remaining to give the Wildcats a 42-40 lead headed into the break.

The Express took a 51-49 lead four minutes into the second half, but that is when Brown took over the game, scoring eight straight points for SUNYIT and then assisting the team's next 12 points before adding another three-pointer and giving the Wildcats a nine-point lead, 72-63, with 8:54 remaining. The Express had only three turnovers after the half and twice cut the lead to four points over the next two minutes, but an 11-5 SUNYIT run would give the Wildcats a ten-point lead, 85-75, with 2:29 to go and would prove to be too much for Wells to overcome.

The Express shot 45.5 percent from the floor (30-66), 41.7 percent from behind the arc (10-24), and 65 percent from the charity stripe (13-20). The Express again had four players in double figures including Bullock and Paulino, Pradia chipped in with 18 points while Greg Jones added 16.

The Express turn around and hit the hardwood tomorrow as they travel to Cobleskill, N.Y. to take on the Cobleskill Fighting Tigers at 1:00 pm at Cobleskill.
