MAYEN AND HARRISON LEAD EXPRESS PAST CAZENOVIA

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ Mabior Mayen (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) notched a game high 28 points and 13 rebounds while teammate Terry Harrison (Brooklyn, N.Y./Forest Hills) finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds as the Wells College men's basketball team rolled past NEAC opponent Cazenovia College 82-64 Saturday afternoon in Aurora. The Express have now won five straight and improve to 8-9 (7-3 NEAC), while the Wildcats fall to 3-12 (3-7 NEAC).
 
Bryant Winans (Afton, N.Y./Afton) paced the Wildcats with 14 points, while Ryan Howdownes (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) chipped with 13 points and four rebounds.
 
The Express came out cold to begin the game and the Wildcats took advantage, jumping out to a commanding 31-19 lead with 8:24 to play. Wells picked things up on defense and offense, outscoring the Wildcats 18-6 over the final eight minutes as the game entered the break tied, 37-37.
 
Wells continued to pressure the ball in the second half and the result would be a 9-0 run to open the half. The Wildcats would battle back to within four with 11:46 to play but, a lay-up by Harrison and a 3-pointer by Terrance Wright (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) sparked a three minute, 13-0 run, opening up a 17 point lead for the Express as they would cruise to victory.
 
The Express return to action next on Jan. 29 when they take on NEAC foe Keuka College at 1 p.m. in Aurora.
