EXPRESS ROUT SAXONS 80-53

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Wells College men's basketball team led by as many as 29-points en route to an 80-53 victory over the Alfred University Saxons Thursday evening in Aurora. The Express have now won four straight and improve 7-9 on the year, while the Saxons fall to 7-8.
 
Terry Harrison (Brooklyn, N.Y./Forest Hills) led nine Express scorers with a game high 23 points. Teammate Mabior Mayen (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) notched his eighth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Benito Perez (Crystal City, Texas/Crystal City) added 11 points while Dave Foltz (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) finished 10 points and seven assists.
 
Mike Stopera (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) led the Saxons with 19 points, while Michael Hill (Whitesboro, N.Y./Notre Dame) added 10 points.
 
The Express finished an impressive 56.4 percent from the floor, including 3 of 9 from the behind the arc and 15 of 22 from the free-throw line. On the defensive end, the Express held Alfred to a lowly 35.8 percent from the floor, while dominating the boards 42-26.
 
The Express jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead, led by eight points (24-16) midway through the first half, and by halftime were sitting comfortably with 40-27 lead. Wells continued their hot shooting in the second half, opening with a 10-2 run, extending their lead to 22 with 12:49 to play before finishing with the 27-point victory.

The Express return to action Saturday when they take on North Eastern Athletic Conference rival Cazenovia College at 3 p.m. in Aurora.
