MORRISVILLE PULLS AWAY LATE, DEFEATS EXPRESS

(Morrisville, N.Y.)─ The Wells College men's basketball had their eight game winning streak snapped Wednesday evening as the Morrisville State Mustangs pulled away late en route to an 83-74 victory over the Express in North Eastern Athletic Conference action in Morrisville. The loss drops the Express to 11-10 (10-4 NEAC), while the Mustangs improve to 10-11 (8-7 NEAC).
 
NEAC Player of the Week Terry Harrison (Brooklyn, N.Y./Forest Hills) paced the Express with a game high 28 points and seven rebounds. Andre Sawyers (Bronx, N.Y./Mt. St. Michaels) added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Dave Foltz (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) finished with 13 points and five assists.
 
The Mustangs had five different players in double-figures highlighted by Wayne Turner, who finished with a team high 19 points and five rebounds. Dwayne Wade chipped in with 13 points and Kucjok Ater finished with a team high 11 rebounds to go along with eight points.
 
It was tight contest from start to finish as the two teams would combine for 12 ties and 14 lead changes. The Express came out in the first half and shot the ball well, finishing 58.1 percent from the floor. Despite the hot shooting, the Mustangs hung around and would find themselves down four (42-38) at the break.
 
Wells continued to battle, building a nine points lead (63-54) with 11:17 to play. Morrisville fought back with a 10-0 run to take the lead and would stretch that lead to eight points (75-67) with less than five minutes to play. The Express trimmed the lead two late (76-74) but that would be as close as they would come as the Mustangs held on for the victory.

 The Express return to action on Saturday afternoon against NEAC opponent Penn. St. Abington with the game set to tip at 3 p.m. in Aurora.
