MAYEN'S 33-POINTS LEADS EXPRESS PAST NITTANY LIONS

(Reading, Pa.)─ Mabior Mayen (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) poured in a career high 33 points and 12 rebounds as the Wells College men's basketball team snapped a three game losing streaking with a 94-73 victory over North Eastern Athletic Conference foe Penn. St. Berks Saturday afternoon in Reading, Pa. The Express improve to 4-9 (4-3 NEAC), while Berks falls to 4-9 (4-4 NEAC).
 
Terry Harrison (Brooklyn, N.Y./Forest Hills) added 18 points and 10 rebounds while Benito Perez (Crystal City, Texas/Crystal City) chipped in with 12 points and five assists to round out the scoring for the Express.
 
Nathaniel Weldon paced the Nittany Lions with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Thomas Smith added 13 points of his own to go along with seven rebounds.
 
The Express shot an impressive 54.7 percent from the field, including 8 of 17 from behind the arc while controlling the boards 46-35.
 
The Nittany Lions held a slim 21-19 mid-way through the first half but the Express came roaring back with a 22-5 run to close the half with a 41-26 lead. Wells continued their hot shooting in the second half, leading by as many as 27 points before closing with the 21 point victory.
 
The Express return to action tomorrow against NEAC opponent Penn. St. Abington with the game set to tip-off at 2 p.m. in Abington, Pa.
