EXPRESS TOP NITTANY LIONS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY

AURORA, N.Y. – Terry Harrison (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds as the Wells College men's basketball team rolled to their third straight victory, topping the Penn. St. Abington Nittany Lions 79-67 on Sunday afternoon in Aurora. With the victory the Express improve to 7-10 (4-3 NEAC), while the Nittany Lions fall to 7-10 (4-2 NEAC).

Dave Foltz (Auburn, N.Y.) added 11 points and seven rebounds while Corey Lewis (Plattsburg, N.Y.), EJ Taylor (Tampa Bay, Fla.), and Mike Dicampli (Geneva, N.Y.) each added nine points to lead a balanced offensive attack for the Express.

The Nittany Lions tied the game at 35-35 on the first shot of the second half, but would never lead, despite trailing by as little as two points seven different times during the second. The Express were equal to the task each time the Nittany Lions drew close, using two 9-0 runs and a defense that held Abington to just two points over the final 2:55 to seal the victory for Wells.

The Nittany Lions held a 16-12 lead at the 10:17 mark of the first half but, a lay-up by Foltz and two straight three's from Dicampli sparked Wells to a 12-0 run and a 24-16 lead. Abington responded with their own 8-0 run to tie the game at 24-24 with less than five minutes to play in the half.

The two teams traded shots and with Wells leading 31-30 Harrison hit two straight buckets to give Wells a 35-30 lead before Abington raced down the floor and finished a fastbreak lay-up with no time remaining to pull within three (35-32) at the break.

Will Alton (Pennington, N.Y.)  led the Nittany Lions with a team high 17 points, while teammate Mike Marvin (Horsham, Pa.) added 14 points and nine rebounds.

The Express shot 46.4 percent from the floor including 6-13 from behind the arc. The Express also controlled the boards holding a 46-41 advantage on the glass, but shot just 21-40 from the foul line.

The Express return to action on Jan. 25 when they travel to take on NEAC opponent Morrisville State College at 5 p.m. in Morrisville, N.Y.
