STRONG SECOND HALF LEADS MUSTANGS PAST EXPRESS

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.- The Wells College men's basketball team had their three game winning streak come to an end falling to the Morrisville State Mustangs 73-54 in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening in Morrisville. With the loss the Express fall to 7-11 (4-4 NEAC), while the Mustangs improve to 10-7 and remain perfect in conference action at 7-0.

Dave Foltz (Auburn, N.Y.) finished as the only Express player in double-figures with 10 points, while Corey Lewis (Plattsburg, N.Y.) added nine points and Tyler Walker (Spencer, N.Y.), Terry Harrison (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Andre Sawyers (Bronx, N.Y.) each finished with eight points.

The Express held a 23-21 lead with 6:55 to play in the first half but a 3-pointer from Andrew Lucio sparked the Mustangs to an 8-0 run and a 29-23 lead before heading into the break up 40-31.

After missing their first two shots, the Mustangs hit five straight to open up a 51-36 lead early in the second half and never looked back. Morrisville held the advantage on the glass 23-14 in the second, while the Express shooters went cold, finishing the half 9-26 from the field, including 0-8 from behind the arc.

 Brandon Hanks paced the Mustangs with 14 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds, while Kucjok Ater and Hodges Sneed each chipped in with 11 points.

Overall, the Express finished 35.7 percent from the field (20-51), including 4-18 from three point range. The Mustangs held a 42-35 advantage on the glass and dished out 24 assists to the Express 10, while shooting 43.3 percent from the floor.

Wells will look to get back to their winning ways this weekend when they travel to take on NEAC opponent SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Cobleskill, N.Y.
