Taylor Honored With NEAC Student-Athlete Of The Week Award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – For his performance across the previous two games for the Express, junior E.J. Taylor (Tampa Bay, Fla.) was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Co-Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced late Monday afternoon. As a team, the Express are 7-10 overall on the season and sport a record of 3-4 within league play.

Against the Storm of Keuka College this past Wednesday, Taylor poured home nine three-point baskets in 13 total chances, shattering the program record for most converted three-pointers in one game. Both Greg Jones and Rionn Pradia accomplished the feat for the 2009-10 Wells College men's basketball team, with Jones accomplishing the feat most recently (at Cazenovia, Feb. 17, 2010). Pradia remains the only player in program history to strike for six three-pointers two separate times (vs. Green Mountain, Jan. 16, 2010; at SUNYIT, Feb. 6, 2010).

Additionally, Taylor's 36 total points against Keuka place him in a tie for second place all-time in program history, tying Juan Paulino who also scored 36 against Penn St.-Harrisburg on Feb. 21, 2010. Taylor finished two points shy of Darrell Bullock's all-time mark of 38 points, set against Cazenovia on Feb. 22, 2009. His three-point field goal percentage in this evening's contest (.692, 9-of-13) also places him third all-time in individual game history.

On the season, Taylor is one of only two Express players to both play in and start all 17 games. Additionally, Taylor leads the team in points per game (15.8), steals (22), three-point baskets (40), field goals made (86), field goals attempted (202) and minutes played (579). He also ranks second in the conference with an 82.1% mark at the free throw line (56-of-68) and places fourth within the conference with 15.8 points per game.

For his career, Taylor ranks eighth all-time in program history with 439 total points in only 37 games as well as 11.9 points per game. He remains only eight three-point baskets away from tying Dave Foltz for the top mark in program history with 86. He is also currently tied with Foltz for the all-time mark of 231 three-point field goals attempted.
