Paul ’14 Named Graduate Assistant Coach At Castleton

AURORA, N.Y. – Al Paul '14 has been named the Graduate Assistant Coach for the men's basketball program at Castleton State College. A two-year member of the Express, Paul wrapped up his career in a Wells uniform in March.

A North Eastern Athletic Conference Third Team All-League player in 2013-14, Paul posted a strong senior campaign in which he averaged 11.6 points per game while shooting a team-best 79.3% from the foul line to rank fifth in the conference. Across 25 games played, Paul also shot 42.5% from the floor (96-for-226) while pouring home five three-point baskets in nine attempts.

In his Wells career, Paul has appeared in 44 career games for Wells and graduates fourth all-time in free throws made (146), free throw percentage (.811), rebounding average (4.5) and games started (43). He was the eighth player in team history to be selected as an All-Conference player.

The Spartans, piloted by Head Coach Paul Culpo, are fresh off a 19-9 season in 2013-14. Winning 16-of-18 games within the North Atlantic Conference, Castleton led the nation in total steals (469) and ranked within the top-five men's basketball programs nationally in steals per game, scoring offense, three-point field goals per game, assists per game and total assists.
