WALLA WALLA, Wash. – In his first game of the season, sophomore James Feocco (Auburn, N.Y.) led the Wells College men's basketball team with 14 points in their 120-61 loss to non-conference Whitman College Sunday evening at the Sherwood Center. With the loss, Wells falls to 1-8 overall while Whitman improves to 5-3 on the season.
Feocco's 14 points led the team while senior Jordan Bishop (Arlington, Texas) posted 10 points and seven rebounds, a team-best statistic. Senior Jordan Jean (Englewood, N.J.) posted 10 points, including a 6-for-6 mark from the charity stripe. On the evening, Wells shot 21-for-56 from the floor (37.5%) including a 17-for-23 (73.9%) mark from the free throw line.
Whitman held firm control of the game throughout the 40-minute affair, opening up a game-high 59-point lead with 1:30 to go in regulation time. The Missionaries bombed 15 total three-point baskets, a season-high for any Wells opponent, and shot 48.8% (40-for-82) in the contest. Jackson Clough posted a game-high 25 points for Whitman, shooting 8-for-15 from the floor to lead the way for the hosts.
The Express return to action today, Sunday, Dec. 22 as they face-off against Whitworth in a 3:00 p.m. EST road contest to conclude their road trip through the state of Washington.
