Men's Basketball Defeated By Lancaster Bible, 67-42

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College men's basketball team posted a 67-42 loss to Lancaster Bible College Saturday afternoon at the Farenthold Athletic Wing. With the loss, Wells drops to 3-13 overall and to 3-5 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Lancaster Bible has won 13-straight games, improving to 14-1 on the year while remaining undefeated in eight league games.

Senior Joe Walton (Ocala, Fla.) led the way for Wells with eight total points while hauling in a team-leading 10 rebounds. He also led the way with five steals and three assists. Senior Tyrese Campbell (Staten Island, N.Y.) ranked second with seven points while sophomore Chris Courtney (Auburn, N.Y.) and freshman Jared Alexander (Adelphi, Md.) each racked up six points.

Wells and Lancaster Bible went back and forth throughout the game's first 10 minutes and the score was eventually tied at 18 following an Alexander layup with 9:47 left in the first half. The Express, however, allowed the Chargers to score 17 of the game's next 23 points and never looked back. During that timeframe, Lancaster Bible poured home three field goals beyond the arc and ultimately took a 35-24 lead with two seconds left following a Naheer Mirza trey.

The Express only posted four field goals in the final 20 minutes as Lancaster Bible completely overwhelmed the Wells offense. Lancaster Bible, however, shot an impressive 47.8% during that span to build up a game-high 27 point lead with 2:30 remaining in the contest.

Dondre Perry led Lancaster Bible with 19 points, hauling in seven rebounds for the Chargers. Albert Suniga scored 11 points and hauled in as many rebounds, joining CJ Dunston with a double-double after the latter scored 10 points and added 12 rebounds.

Wells returns to action Sunday, Jan. 25 as they host the Nittany Lions of Penn St.-Berks at 2 p.m.
