Ross Earns NEAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Rich Ross of the Wells College men's basketball team is the North Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 4, 2016. Ross led Wells to three victories in conference games as Wells is off to its best start in program history.

Ross was the leading scorer for Wells in each game as the Express started NEAC play with three straight wins, all on the road. He scored a career-high 34 points at Cazenovia and made the game-winning 3-pointer with seven seconds left at SUNY Poly. Ross scored 58 of his 73 points in the second half of the three victories for Wells, leading the Express to comeback wins in each contest. Wells trailed at halftime in all three games.

Over the three-game win streak, the sophomore guard averaged 24.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He was 15-of-34 from behind the 3-point line in those games.

Ross was the NEAC Rookie of the Year and earned Second Team All-Conference recognition after his freshman season in 2015-16. He averaged 19.4 points per game as a freshman, and is averaging 21.2 points per game this season.

The team's 4-1 overall record is the best-ever start through five games. It is the second time in program history that Wells has started NEAC play with a 3-0 record, which the 2013-14 team also accomplished.

Wells is in action this week with a Tuesday game at Ithaca College and a home game Thursday against RIT at 7 p.m.
