Men's Basketball Wins 88-74 At Keuka, Third Straight Win

The Wells College men's basketball team remained undefeated in North Eastern Athletic Conference play and earned an 88-74 road victory over NEAC North Division opponent Keuka College on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Keuka's JMW Center. Wells is 7-3 overall and 5-0 in the NEAC. Keuka stands at 1-9 overall and 1-4 in the NEAC.

The Express led 48-47 in a high-scoring first half. Keuka started the second half with a 9-2 run to take a 56-50 lead, which was the largest lead of the second half for the host Wolves. Wells answered with a 21-4 run and built a 71-60 lead with 7:29 left. Wells led the rest of the way.

Four players scored in double-figures for the Express, led by Rich Ross with 22 points. Chris Courtney had 17 points, Tyree Fisher scored 16 and Vaughndell Brantley added 13.

Brantley was 11-for-11 at the free-throw line for Wells as the Express made 25-of-32 attempts. Wells had eight steals and seven blocked shots at the defensive end, and limited Keuka to 40 percent shooting from the field.

Ross led Wells with seven rebounds. Anthony Nesci had four assists and three steals with just one turnover.

Fisher was 6-for-7 from the floor in racking up a career-best 16 points. That included a 3-for-4 shooting night behind the 3-point line.

Wells has won three games in a row. The Express returns home for its first home games of the second semester this weekend. Saturday's 3 p.m. game is against SUNY Cobleskill and Sunday's game at 3 p.m. is against SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
