Wells Men's Basketball Falls To Keuka

The Wells College men's basketball team staged a second-half rally before falling 74-70 to visiting Keuka College on Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Schwartz Athletic Center in Aurora, N.Y. Wells trimmed a 19-point Keuka lead in the second half down to one point in the final minute before the visiting Wolves held on for the win.

Keuka improved to 4-5 overall and is 2-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Wells is 1-6 on the year and 1-1 in the NEAC.

The Wolves led 20-19 with 5:36 remaining in the first half, but closed the half with a 20-7 run to hold a 14-point lead at halftime. The lead grew to 19 in the second half before Wells rallied down the stretch.

Keuka held a 52-39 advantage in rebounding with 18 rebounds coming at the offensive end. The Wolves scored 16 second-chance points.

Rich Ross led all scorers with 28 points for Wells. He was 10-for-11 at the free-throw line. Macho DeJesus scored 16 and Anthony Nesci scored 13 for Wells. The Express shot 3-for-16 from the 3-point line in the first half but made 8-of-14 attempts from behind the arc in the second half.

Ross and Nesci each had five assists. David Dames led Wells with 12 rebounds.

Wells continues conference play Saturday, Dec. 9 at Morrisville State College at 1 p.m.
