Cazenovia Rallies For Men's Basketball Win

The Wells College men's basketball team fell by a score of 83-79 to Cazenovia College on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. Four players scored in double figures for Wells.

The Express is 3-10 overall and 1-3 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Cazenovia is 3-9 overall and 2-2 in the NEAC.

Macho DeJesus scored 29 points for Wells and was 5-for-10 on 3-point field goal attempts. David Dames scored 15 points and Rich Ross and Tyree Fisher scored 12 points each.

Dames had five blocked shots and 14 rebounds. Ross led Wells with three steals. Anthony Nesci had seven assists.

Wells built an 11-point lead early in the second half, its largest lead of the game, when DeJesus made a 3-pointer from the top of the key and was fouled. He made the ensuing free throw to give the Express a 53-42 advantage.

The Express led 74-69 with 4:57 remaining on a layup by Fisher, but that was the last made field goal of the game for Wells. Cazenovia closed the game on a 14-5 run to come away with a comeback win.

Cazenovia made 15-of-22 free-throw attempts and Wells was 13-for-25 at the foul line.

In the previous meeting between the teams this season, Wells won 69-63 at Cazenovia on Dec. 2.

Wells continues conference play this weekend with a Saturday, Jan. 13 road game at Gallaudet University and a Sunday, Jan. 14 game at Penn State Abington.
