Abington Pulls Away In Second Half Over Men's Basketball

The Wells College men's basketball team lost 80-69 on Sunday, Jan. 14 at Penn State Abington.

Rich Ross scored 30 points for the Express and Macho DeJesus added 23 points. It was the second time this season that Ross scored 30 points or more and the 11th such game in his career.

The Express got off to a good start and built its largest lead of the game of 11 points when Ross scored to give Wells a 20-9 lead with 12:56 left in the half. Abington closed the margin and the game was tied 37-37 at halftime.

Wells led 44-42 on a basket by Rich Ross with 15:35 left in the second half, but Abington scored the game's next 19 points and went on to a double-digit victory.

The Express made 10 of 43 attempts from behind the 3-point line. Tyree Fisher had seven assists. David Dames led Wells with 11 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Wells is 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the NEAC. Penn State Abington is 5-8 overall and 3-3 in the league.

The Express is back in action Wednesday, Jan. 17 at SUNY Polytechnic Institute at 5 p.m.
