First-Place Wildcats Shoot Down Wells Men's Basketball

The Wells College men's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting opponent and SUNY Poly won 89-72 over the Express on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at SUNY Poly's Campus Center Gymnasium. The first-place Wildcats remained undefeated in North Eastern Athletic Conference games with a 6-0 conference record and SUNY Poly is 10-5 overall. Wells is 4-12 overall and 2-5 in the NEAC.

Wells had four players score in double figures. Rich Ross and Macho DeJesus each scored 20 points. Jalen Tribble scored 11 and Tyree Fisher had 10 points.

The Wildcats had a 36-19 advantage in rebounds. Ross and David Dames had four rebounds each for Wells. Dames had three blocked shots, and Ross added five assists.

SUNY Poly shot 57 percent from the field in the first half and built a 49-31 lead at halftime. The Wildcats finished the game with a 59 percent shooting percentage by making 33 of 56 field-goal attemtps. The Wildcats were also 17-for-18 at the free-throw line.

Wells is back in action Saturday, Jan. 20 with a 1 p.m. home game against SUNY Cobleskill at the Schwartz Athletic Center.
